LiteCure Pet Laser Therapy

Is your pet experiencing pain or discomfort from arthritis, a recent injury, or some other condition? If so, LiteCure pet laser therapy, available here at Northwoods Veterinary Clinic, could help. Laser therapy is a surgery-free, FDA-approved, drug-free treatment method that has been proven effective in treating a variety of conditions in small animals with no side effects.

How Pet Laser Therapy Works

Pet laser therapy involves using a hand-held device to safely and non-invasively deliver an intense beam of light that penetrates the deep tissue of skin. This process stimulates cells to heal and increases blood circulation, which then reduces inflammation as a result. Pain and nerve sensitivity are also diminished as natural pain killers (endorphins) are released. Because laser therapy is surgery-free, it requires no sedation or fur clipping. The only requirement is protective eyewear for anyone who is near the laser.

One of the most common questions we receive from pet owners about laser therapy is, “What does it feel like?” The sensation is very similar to that of a massage. In fact, many pets become very relaxed during treatment, which lasts 5 to 10 minutes for most patients, including those with chronic conditions.

What Can Laser Therapy Treat?

Veterinary laser therapy can help treat or minimize pain associated with more than a dozen conditions in dogs, cats, and other species. Some of the most common conditions include:
